PEGASUS TOWN, New Zealand --Fueled by a final-round 63, former Oklahoma State golfer Pernilla Lindberg finished as the runner-up at the Pegasus New Zealand Womens Open this weekend.
Lindbergs 7-under total of 281 at the four-day event, which is co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and Australian Ladies Professional Golf, tied her with Sarah Kemp and Marianne Skarpnord. The trio finished two shots behind Laura Davies.
En route to her second-place showing, the former Cowgirl All-Americans final round set a course record at Pegasus Golf Course. Lindbergs 9-under closing score included 10 birdies. The Bollnäs, Sweden native started her day with a birdie at No. 1 and followed with birdies at Nos. 5 and 6. Lindberg posted her fourth and final birdie on the front side at No. 9 to turn at 4-under 32. After a bogey at the 10th, she birdied five of the next six and added her last birdie of the day at the 18th to move into second place.
Lindberg was joined in the top 10 by fellow Swede and OSU alum Linda Wessberg, who tied for seventh place at 284 after carding a 69 during her final round.
